What this basically mean is a third party software or web applications tried to access your account either to check credit balance etc. and yes possible to make purchases using the same method. However in any case, please review the email carefully, move your mouse cursor over to any hyper link or like and look at the link website domain, is it really amazon.com? better yet, visit amazon.com directly by typing in amazon.com and access your account from there to check.
